The Foundation

What is it?

The Lemn Sissay Foundation was set up by poet and writer Lemn Sissay MBE. Lemn is the author of a series of books of poetry alongside articles, records, broadcasts, public art, commissions, and plays.

Alongside his work, Lemn has campaigned tirelessly on behalf of young people in care and care leavers. In 2017 he established the Lemn Sissay Foundation, dedicated to offering support to individuals and agencies working to address the disadvantages faced by those in care and young adult care leavers.

The Foundation’s main focus is The Christmas Dinners. They were founded in 2013 and are organised by teams of volunteers who work together to provide a magical, fun-filled day, complete with special presents and a scrumptious dinner on Christmas Day for young care leavers aged between 16 and 25 at various events around the UK.

We would love to support more Christmas Dinners across the UK with the ambition that we get to a time where no care leaver is left alone on Christmas Day. Please donate to the Lemn Sissay Foundation so that we can support even more Dinners this year and in the future.
