What is The Christmas Dinner and how is it doing?

This Christmas Dinner in Manchester is inspired by The Tope Project who did it first in London last year.   Louise Wallwein writes on the crowdfunder site   "The Christmas Dinner is a pop up organisation founded by Lemn Sissay.   We are a group of 10 professionals who between us have over a hundred years experience of working with young people."  I gathered a group of of people together   on October 6th 2013 via Google Conference. The aim:  to provide a Christmas day dinner for care leavers Read more [...]

Places for care leavers at The Christmas Dinner.

I check with The Christmas Dinner referral team to see how many care leavers are confirmed. Twenty five. There's space for 45.    I’m told an anxious young man has telephoned saying  he needed travel expenses to attend.    He wants to come to The Christmas Dinner but there's  no-one to refer him. His situation is complicated. Meanwhile I receive a message from someone I met at TEDx in Salford.  She told her friend about The Christmas Dinner. Her friend is a university student. He's 300 Read more [...]

Thankyou crowdfunders #TCD2013

If you have a good idea for the community in Britain there is a way to make it happen. Thankyou Louise Wallwein from The Christmas Dinner team. Louise had the idea to approach crowdfunder.co.uk to raise money for my vision.  Thankyou Sarah Sturmey of The Christmas Dinner team. Sarah stepped forward with her Charity to look after the money raised at Crowdfunder. Most importantly Crowdfunder glavanised us.  They  bought into the vision of A Christmas Dinner in The North West for care leavers between Read more [...]

He gave one thousand pounds to The Christmas Dinner.   Tom chairs the Manchester International Festival and is a trustee of The Tate, Manchester United Foundation and is also Chancellor of The University of Manchester.
